April Fools!

April 2nd, 2007

I don’t think we’d ever actually launch a site with a domain name like phpBB3M0ds.com. Although the site was pretty much fully functional (with its own MySpace page and mailing list). But, the plan is for phpBBHacks.com to grow and expand to accommodate both phpBB 2 and phpBB 3.

Other April Fools jokes on the network included:

At phpBBHacks.com we released a particularly nasty hack.

Playing off of the whole McDojo thing, at KarateForums.com we launched the Buy a Belt program. Basically, if you paid $5, you could then have the belt of your choosing. We even discussed requiring people to pay to have one. :)

In advance, I appreciate everyone being a good sport. Thank you for reading.

phpBB3M0ds.com Launched!

March 31st, 2007

Update: April Fools! Please see this post.

phpBBHacks.com is the most highly visited site in the iFroggy Network. It is the largest database of phpBB related downloads, granted with author permission, on the internet. Pretty much all of the resources on the site are dedicated to phpBB 2 and there really is an overwhelming number of downloads. The next major phpBB release, phpBB 3, is coming. In light of this and in order to appropriately accommodate both phpBB 2 and the upcoming phpBB 3, we have launched phpBB3M0ds.com.

This new site will focus exclusively on phpBB 3 where phpBBHacks.com will continue to grow and expand with a focus on phpBB 2. There aren’t any downloads in the database yet (except for phpBB 3.0.B5), as it just launched, but we believe that it will fill up quickly. We encourage any and all phpBB 3 m0d, style and graphic authors to submit their downloads to our database (including ones written for Beta versions as well as Release Candidates when they start being released). Our Support Forums will be launching soon after phpBB 3 RC1 is released.

What phpBBHacks.com is for phpBB 2, this site will become for phpBB 3.

SodaRatings.com Launches!

December 18th, 2006

I love soda. I’ll drink pretty much any kind of soda, although I definitely have my favorites (Coke or Cherry Coke, I’d say).

My great grandfather, who I never met, worked at The Coca-Cola Company for some 30 odd years. During that span, my great grandmother (his wife, who I did know a little) worked at PepsiCo for around 10 years. But, they always drank Coke. Coincidentally, or perhaps not so coincidentally, I am “loyal” to the Coke brand, although I’ll drink Pepsi and I enjoy Pepsi products, like Mountain Dew.

No doubt partially due to my affinity for soda, I came up an idea for a site where people could rate their favorite sodas and have a profile where they could show their favorites to others. And so, after much planning and development, SodaRatings.com is born.

Soda lovers, unite!

QuickZip Leaves the iFroggy Network

November 1st, 2006

Today, QuickZip has exited the iFroggy Network. It’s not a nasty breakup by any means and it didn’t come about without extremely careful consideration. It’s very amicable and I consider Joseph Leung, the creator of QuickZip, a friend of mine.

On the contrary, I am proud to have been associated with QuickZip. It’s a quality, award winning piece of software and Joseph is a good guy. They’ve been in the network for nearly 6 years. During this time, we’ve helped each other out quite a bit. QuickZip today is much different from QuickZip when it entered the network. I’m proud of the fact that we helped to cultivate it and to make it more popular. The biggest reason for it’s popularity, of course, is Joseph’s hard work.

So, I didn’t want it to pass without note. Again, very amicable and respectful and I congratulate and thank Joseph for his accomplishments and wish him the best going forward.

PhotoshopForums.com Featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine

September 28th, 2006

PhotoshopForums.com received a brief mention in issue 21 of Advanced Photoshop, a magazine for Adobe Photoshop professionals.

We’re mentioned on page 38, in their feature on “Making money with Photoshop”. To quote:

To ensure your web presence doesn’t go unnoticed, it pays to gain an understanding of how to get listed by search engines … as well as doing a bit of online networking with other Photoshop professionals and people working in related areas. Become an active part of the online community by posting at online forums such as www.photoshopforums.com … and you’ll be amazed how your reputation will grow. And with improved stature comes a greatly increased chance of attracting paying customers, whatever type of Photoshop service you’re selling.

Thank you to the Advanced Photoshop team for the mention and thank you to Richard Ramsey for pointing it out to me.
